Our Instructor
Lee Sumner:
Lee graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and is a Distinguished Graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology with an MS in Computer Engineering. While serving 10 years on active duty with the United States Air Force, Lee served as an instructor for the Texas Pre-Freshmen Engineering Program (TexPREP) in Edinburg, Texas and was an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York. He has continued his love for teaching STEM classes by teaching Chemistry and Algebra at Cornerstone Classical Christian Academy in Montgomery, AL, and served as a Scoutmaster for a local Boy Scout troop where he taught many STEM merit badges including Computers, Electricity, Electronics, Energy, Engineering, Radio, Robotics, and Space Exploration. As the lead mentor for the Eastwood/Cornerstone Schools B.E.S.T. (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) robotics team for 8 years, Lee taught engineering principles to a combined middle and high school student robotics team and guided the team to numerous awards at both local and regional competitions. Lee and his wife, Suzanne, have been homeschooling their seven children for over 20 years.
